Southern African countries have been challenged to optimally utilize Open Distance Learning (ODL) as a tool to create a knowledgeable and fully functional society to spearhead respective countries’ development plans.
The challenge was issued in Dar es Salaam yesterday by the Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Oliver Mhaiki when officially opening the 46th Distance Education Association of Southern Africa (DEASA) conference.
“Africa has the most growing population in the world and they all need to study. With the little resources in our universities, the best way is to apply ODL as its importance today can not be overemphasized,” Mhaiki said.
