The day students became CIOs and managers at Barclays bank

More than 20 students from Loyola and Benjamin Mkapa secondary schools of Dar es Salaam were on Wednesday shadowed in various positions when they visited Barclays Banks in the city.
They assumed positions such as managing director, information technology head, marketing and commercial credit director, retail branch manager, head of ICU and head of payments and worked on those positions for one day.
Earlier, the bank’s Managing Director Kihara Maina urged the students to be keen in choosing the careers they intend to pursue in future.
Maina said that through a shadow programme offered by the bank, students will be able to experience and have chance at work places and understand where they will end up in future in terms of choosing their careers.
He said that the job shadow programme gives the students a great opportunity for to exchange ideas by asking questions making them get the feeling of what they would do in future.
