ETHOPIA HAS EXPRESSED ITS SINCERE GRATITUDE TOWARDS THE KINDNESS AND WARMNESS OF TANZANIANS(WAETHOPIA WAMEWASHUKURU WATANZANIA KWA AJILI UKARIMU WAO)

Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya, Meles Alem, has thanked Tanzania for  its continued
humanitarian support to his country's nationals.

Ambassador Alem made the remarks when he met 82 Ethiopians who narrowly escaped death at Chitego village in Dodoma region and who are currently being cared for by the Tanzanian government.

He said given the fact that Tanzania has continued to help and support his country, it was very important to thank and appreciate it, especially with the ever increasing wave of illegal immigrants trying to cross its borders as the transit point to southern Africa.

Alem was in the country and visited the Medeli graves where 21 Ethiopian immigrants who lost their lives were buried, and pledged that his country would continue to work with Tanzania in order to curb the wave of illegal immigrants attempting to cross its borders, as well as fight human trafficking trade.

“We'll strengthen control so that our people do not violate international regulations by traveling to other places without permit. This problem must end because it touches the entire world,” he said.                                                                                   

The Ethiopians who narrowly escaped death commended the government for being the most stable and peaceful in Africa, saying it was important that other countries in the world emulate it.

They also thanked the people and the communities that helped them from the time they were abandoned at Chitego village in Kongwa district. They said that they were being treated kindly all the time and were taken by surprise by the act and treatment.

They promised their ambassador that upon returning to their homeland, they would become ambassadors to other young people and advise them against the temptation of going out of the country without following the right procedures.
